About IBA

For 30 years, IBA has been building a community of practitioners and designing services to help members with technical issues and to create income opportunities. We believe in supporting each other - from headquarters and member to member. That’s why our motto is “Share the Wealth.” Join us and reap the benefits of our experiences.

IBA offers education to members and the public in the form of seminars, media, workshops, and conferences. IBA's educational offerings and schedule are described in the Education area.

IBA is a leading authority on business appraisal education, industry research, and business appraisal certifications which include Certified Business Appraiser (CBA), Accredited in Business Appraisal Review (ABAR), and Business Valuator Accredited in Litigation (BVAL).

Our Mission
The Institute of Business Appraisers is committed to providing the highest quality of service to our members by assisting them in a journey to professional excellence in the field of business appraisal. Our goal is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for each member through IBA’s resources, including technical support, market data, professional certification, and practical education in all aspects of appraisal of small and mid-size businesses. In fulfilling this mission, IBA Headquarters staff is assisted by the generosity of the many volunteers who provide professional mentoring, report review, instruction, and technical publications for the enhancement of the profession.

The IBA Market Database is the profession’s most valued transaction database, now consisting of more than 34,000 market transactions of sales of small to mid-size businesses. This is more than any other such database and is used by more business appraisers than any other private-company comps database. Access to the IBA Market Database is included free as a benefit of IBA membership.

We measure our success by the professional advancement of our members. Personal assistance, through our volunteer sponsors and mentors, and technical support to members continue to be some of IBA’s most important and valued services. Our Headquarters staff is eager to talk about the issues you encounter because it helps us anticipate member needs and develop additional member benefits.
