Our Mission
The Institute of Business Appraisers is committed to providing the highest quality of service to our members by assisting them in a journey to professional excellence in the field of business appraisal. Our goal is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for each member through IBA’s resources including technical support, market data, professional certification, and practical education in all aspects of appraisal of small and mid-size businesses. In fulfilling this mission, IBA Headquarters staff is assisted by the generosity of the many volunteers who provide professional mentoring, report review, instruction, and technical publications for the enhancement of the profession.

IBA maintains the profession’s most valued transaction database, now consisting of over 33,000 market transactions of sales of small to mid-size businesses. We fill over 16,000 member requests for transaction data each year at no cost to our members. During the first quarter of 2009, IBA’s transaction database will be online and accessible at all times by our members. Technical support will still be available exclusively to our members.

We measure our success by the professional advancement of our members. Personal assistance, through our volunteer sponsors and mentors, and technical support to members continue to be some of IBA’s most important and valued services. Our Headquarters staff is eager to talk about the issues you encounter, because it helps us anticipate member needs, and to develop additional member benefits.
